All the great histroical sites close to this hotel and the hop on ..hop off bus was great way to see them all ..

We found food of a good standard everywhere we ate and much the same price. More cost effictive to buy a large bottle of water than 2 500ml bottles of coke etc.

Marios is a great restaurant (walk down the road and keep going into the small street that leads down towards the Colosseum)with the owner being front of house- a most enjoyable evening.Avoid Al Giubileo( in side street off Via Nazionale)- food was OK but the waiter service was poor.

Hotel has excellent restaurant next door. 16 euros for 4 course meal, very good. Theres lots of walking so take good walking boots, (2 miles from hotel. (Take San Peito Bus - 1€) Vatican well worth the visit (1whole day there), great value for money (14 €s). Go to Vatican museum 1st, this takes you through Sistine chapel quicker. Then take right exit in Sistine chapel ( marked groups only) , this then takes you through to the Basilica via the tombs of all the popes. Colosseum and forum also excellent, 9€ total (1 whole day there and well worth it. Go up to the top of the Vitterio building it's amasing. (can't miss it, big white building with to Hugh statues of horses on it. Next door is the Caplitoline Museum too, Over all, plenty to do and see. Great history in Rome.Sadly the spannish steps where so over crowded with school trips and people,you could not get a good photograph unless done at night. We found it expensive to eat, allow for 40€ a night for 2 people, (with out wine). Coffee / tea 2.50-3€. Bus's very cheap and frequent 1€. Avoid tour guides, they charge too much. Just take a good guide book and read up as you go along.
